Becoming the Landscape: A Creative Journey
Free – Registration Required via The Hyde Collection
In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Hudson River School, Becoming the Landscape is more than a workshop series—it’s a creative and contemplative journey through place, presence, and personal expression.
We begin by entering the ethos of the Hudson River School, exploring how light—on canvas and within ourselves—serves as guide, teacher, and inspiration. Guided by the legacy of artists like Thomas Cole, Frederic Church, and Albert Bierstadt, whose luminous works reside in The Hyde’s collection, this series invites you to experience the landscape not just as a subject to observe, but as a space to embody.
What to Expect:
Hands-on artmaking using paint, collage, sketching, and layering techniques
Reflective exploration—no prior art experience needed
A welcoming environment for creative connection
Upcoming Sessions:
October 16 | 5:00–5:45 PM
In honor of World Food Day, museum admission and workshop participation will be free with a donation of two non-perishable food items or paper products as part of The Hyde’s Pantry Food Drive. All items will be donated to the Greenwich Food Pantry, in partnership with Comfort Food Community.
(You may also register in advance and let us know you plan to bring items—this helps us plan for your participation!)February 19 | 5:00–5:45 PM
March 19 | 5:00–5:45 PM
Each session is self-contained—attend one or join us for the full series!
We look forward to creating with you.
